Civic Reception for High Level Nepal Delegation in Delhi

Academics, Intelligentsia highlight need for further strengthening bilateral ties


New Delhi, December 16, 2012: The Global Foundation for Civilizational (Harmony) organized a civic reception for a high level delegation from Nepal here last evening, where emphasis was laid on further strengthening the centuries old fraternal relations between the two South Asian neighbours.


The function, held in collaboration with the Manav Rachna International University (MRIU), at the Indian Law Institute was attended and address by intellectuals including journalists, academics, industrialists and public servants from both countries.


Speaking on the occasion, Mr K G Suresh, Director of GFCH India, said the relations between India and Nepal have been marred often by misunderstanding and misconceptions, which need to be sorted out at the earliest through people to people relations. A stable and prosperous Nepal is as much in India's interest as much as a strong and peaceful India is in the interest of the Himalayan country, he said.


Colonel (Retd) V.K. Gaur, Director at the Manav Rachana International University offered to admit as many Nepalese students as possible in IT and other courses.


Dr A K Agarwal, CEO of Autometers Allianz, said Indian business was willing to invest in tourism and other sectors in Nepal, if Kathmandu offered more concessions.


Eminent Nepalese academic Ramesh Chandra Dhungel and P P Vista Chhetry, Chief Editor of the Republica daily, also addressed the distinguished gathering.


Later, each and every member of the 35 member Nepalese delegation including former Deputy Prime Minister P C Lohani, former Minister Suresh Malla, noted journalist Yubaraj Ghimire were presented with mementoes by the organizers.


Dr Atanu Mohapatra, Head of the Department, Faculty of Media Studies at MRIU proposed a vote of thanks.
